Water Reclamation Facility
The Water Reclamation Facility (WRF) is located just East of the Public Works office. It treats an average of approximately 1,000,000 gallons of sewage per day.
Solvents, petroleum-based oils, and greases are not processed by the WRF. These substances eventually make their way to the Yellowstone River, which is a violation of our discharge permit. The State of Montana and the Environmental Protection Agency have stringent guidelines on water discharged to the Yellowstone River.
The Water Reclamation Facility upgrade reached substantial completion on February 28th, 2019. The upgrade will allow Livingston to continue to meet current DEQ discharge permit nutrient requirements, allow the City to grow, and continue its responsible stewardship of the Yellowstone River.
