Sewer Department
Livingston’s Sewer Department provides maintenance for 43.3 miles of sewer mains and lift stations throughout town. This infrastructure delivers an average of one million gallons of wastewater a day to the Water Reclamation Facility. Many of the residential sewer lines in use today were installed over one hundred years ago and require large amounts of jetting and root-cutting maintenance to function correctly.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
My Sewer is backing up; what do I do?
If you experience a sewer backup, please call the Livingston Public Works Department (406) 222-5667 first so the staff can check the mainline. If your backup is after hours, contact the non-emergency line at Livingston Dispatch (406) 222-2050, and ask for them to call the on-call staff.
