On behalf of the officers and firefighters of Livingston Fire & Rescue, we welcome you to our website. We hope this site provides helpful information and answers any questions you may have. If you need further assistance, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
Livingston’s first major fire occurred in 1883, destroying an abandoned building and threatening nearby structures. To prevent the fire from spreading, two neighboring buildings were demolished. Just six days later, the Livingston Hook and Ladder Co. was formed.
In 1894, the city hired its first paid firefighter and acquired a horse-drawn hose and ladder wagon. The wagons were faithfully pulled by two horses, Bob and Major, whose names remain honored on our engine and truck today. By 1897, Livingston established its first organized volunteer fire department.
In 1992, the City of Livingston approved the addition of an ambulance service. Today, our 12 shift personnel and three administrative staff members are all paramedics, providing advanced emergency medical care to the community.
Livingston Fire & Rescue is a combination fire department consisting of 16 full-time personnel and 30 part-time reserves. We provide 24/7 fire protection and advanced life support paramedic ambulance services. We work closely with county agencies to ensure seamless emergency response for those who live, work, and visit our community.
Our core values define how we perform our duties, interact with the community, and uphold our mission. These principles guide us in every aspect of our work:
At Livingston Fire & Rescue, we are dedicated to protecting lives and property with professionalism, commitment, and care.
