Zoning Code Update Coming to Livingston

The City of Livingston is partnering with SCJ Alliance to bring exciting enhancements to our city’s zoning code. Following the insightful recommendations from the Community Technical Advisory Program (CTAP) report, we are working to address areas for improvement within the code. Additionally, new state legislation requires us to increase access to housing, making this update an essential opportunity to better serve the needs and desires of our community.

One of the key focus areas of this update is the creation of new graphics and visuals to help make the zoning code easier to understand for both developers and community members. Clear, visual communication will ensure that everyone can easily navigate the changes and understand how they will impact future developments in Livingston.

This project is still in the early stages, and we are committed to shaping it through meaningful public input. The City, in collaboration with SCJ Alliance, will provide numerous opportunities for you to share your thoughts and feedback. A community survey will be circulated in mid-October to gather initial thoughts and ideas from community members. Additionally, on the evening of Thursday, November 14th, 2024, City staff along with SCJ Alliance will be hosting a community workshop, where you will have an opportunity to provide input and feedback. Event details to follow!

Ultimately, your feedback will drive the outcome of this update. The adoption of the updated zoning code is anticipated in mid-late 2025, and we encourage everyone to participate in shaping the future of Livingston.
