Montana Department of Public Health & Human Services recently announced the launch of a new temporary emergency Low-Income Home Water Assistance Program (LIHWAP) that was  developed to provide low-income eligible households, assistance in paying their water and sewer bills.

Similar to the LIEAP program, this program will be administered by HRDC, and will help eligible households prevent water shutoffs, reduce arrearages on customer water/sewer bills. This temporary program is slated to operate from October 1, 2021, through September 30, 2023.  The City has registered with the LIHWAP program. If a household is deemed eligible, payment will be made directly to the City of Livingston and credited to the customers utility account.

Owners and renters can apply!  If your household receives benefits from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Supplemental Security Income (SSI) or the Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF) program, you may automatically qualify for this program. Similar to LIEAP, applicants must meet income and other resource eligibility criteria.  Please note, City Staff can not make any determinations regarding eligibility for this program.
