POSITION: Public Works Temporary Summer Employees (5 Open Positions)

DEPARTMENT: Public Works Department (Roaming Crew, Street Department, and Transfer Station)

ACCOUNTABLE TO: Applicable Public Works Foreman

Under general direction, assists the Roaming Crew, Street Department and Transfer Station in the repair and maintenance of park and cemetery areas, waterways, trees, Civic Center, swimming pools, streets, alleys, transfer station and other City maintained areas. Summer Temporary employees may have work assignments in any of the Public Works Divisions including Roaming, Streets, Solid Waste, Wastewater Treatment Plant, Sewer and Water.   

Wage: $12.50 per hour

POSITION: Accountant 1

DEPARTMENT: Finance

ACCOUNTABLE TO: Finance Director

The City of Livingston, Montana is seeking a highly motivated individual to fill the vacancy of Accountant 1 in our Finance Department.  This position is responsible for the preparation and maintenance of the city budget, preparation of financial statements and documents, and supervision of the finance staff.  This position reports directly to the Finance Officer and has significant decision making and operational discretion.  This role serves as a resource to all city employees, citizens and customers. The ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with all customers is essential for the success of the position.

Qualified applicants must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Public Administration, Business Administration or other related discipline.  3-5 years of experience with budget development/management, GAAFR GAAP and GASB and public finance required.  Experience specific to government financial operations is essential.  Experience with direct supervision of staff and exceptional customer service skills is also required.

Annual Salary: $38,000 - $44,000 D.O.E.

POSITION: Public Safety Communications Officer

DEPARTMENT: Communication Services - (911 Dispatch Center)

The City of Livingston is accepting applications for the position of Public Safety Communications Officer.

This full time position will be responsible for performing dispatch duties for Police, Sheriff, Montana Highway Patrol, Livingston Ambulance, Coroners, 8 Fire Departments, Wreckers, City, State and County Public Services, Disaster and Emergency Services, Animal Control and other emergency responders. Prepares and runs reports and background checks as requested. Ability to work well under pressure, during intense emergency situations with the ability to remain calm, communicate effectively with callers and emergency responders. High attention to detail, strong customer service skills, familiarity with city and county geography and locations and the ability to type 40 WPM. The ability to multitask, work with frequent interruptions, handle complex customer calls, and maintain highest standards of confidentiality and integrity.

Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED, and as a condition of continued employment must obtain the following training and certifications: Public Safety Communications Officers training through MLEA, CJIN level II and Criminal History certification, and Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD) certification. Starting base annual salary for this position is $30,403 with additional stipends as certifications are achieved. This is a Union position covered by the Collective Bargaining Agreement by and between the City of Livingston and MPEA. Position is 40 hours per week with actual shifts to be determined at hiring.
